Jacob was the beloved son of Brian and Jo Jones.

Jake was born in 1988 to a mother using crystal meth. He came into Brian and Jo Joneses family at just three days old. In 1988 there was little information on how to help substance exposed newborns. The pediatrician said as long as he reached his milestones he would be fine. Now we are aware of the long term effects of this exposure and how devastating it can be, and that meeting milestones didn’t mean he wouldn’t suffer. Jake was an amazing son. He was brilliant, handsome, charismatic and sensitive. He excelled in school, served his country by joining the Army, including one year in Iraq and he was much loved. But he suffered from that prenatal drug exposure. Brian and Jo lost Jake in 2014, at  just 25 years old.

Jacob Robert Jones
09/09/88 – 09/07/14

“Our son, Jacob Robert Jones, was the very first baby we ever held, ever loved, ever cared for who was born exposed to drugs. We were so naïve as to how to care for him, so we just did our best and loved him with all of our hearts. Due to the prenatal drug exposure, our son suffered from the effects of substance abuse for his entire life.

Jacob’s Hope is dedicated to our son in the desire that other children, through proper care and nurturing, can be given loving and competent care as they struggle through drug withdrawals in the first few weeks of their lives.”
